Matt Weber, a doctoral candidate in the Urban Planning program, has received the Alma Young Emerging Scholar Award. The award, given by the Urban Affairs Association, is awarded annually to an emerging scholar whose work exemplifies outstanding scholarship in urban affairs.

"Your selection comes after careful consideration of an impressive group of nominations," wrote Dr. Margaret Wilder, executive director of the Urban Affairs Association. "The nominees for this award represented the breadth of urban scholarship, and possessed outstanding records of academic and professional achievement. That your application rose to the top of this group is a singular accomplishment of which you deserve to be quite proud. Congratulations!"

Weber received a $1,000 honorarium and was presented with a plaque and honorarium at the San Antonio conference on March 21, 2014 during the annual Awards and Recognition Luncheon. Visit the urban Affairs Assoication website for more information on the Alma Young Emerging Scholar Award.
